GEORGIA INDIAN COMMUNITY
HEADING TO HOUSTON TO WELCOME MODI

Atlanta, GA: A large contingent of Indian Americans are heading to Houston to attend Howdy Modi event where over 50,000 people from different cities across United States are expected to welcome India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to Houston and eager to listen to Modi. Not only the Governor and elected officials of Texas state but also several political leaders across of America planning to attend Howdy Modi event to be held on Saturday, September 22 at the NRG stadium, Houston. This mega event is the first of its kind to be held in Houston. India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in the U.S. to attend the United Nations General Assembly and speak at to speak at the United Nations General Assembly in New York.



The Howdy Modi summit is sold out with 50,000 registrations. Many are still on the wait list. The Howdy Modi event is organized by the Texas India Forum and is being promoted by a variety of Indian-American organizations around the country, including community organizations in Georgia. Welcome Partner organizations of Howdy Modi in Georgia include Indian Association of Greater Athens, Vedas World Inc, SEWA International – Atlanta, India Friends of Atlanta, Friends of Indian Americans, United States Hindu Alliance Atlanta, Overseas Friends of BJP – Atlanta, The Gandhi Foundation of USA (GFUSA), Ekal Vidyalaya USA (Atlanta Chapter), Indian Professionals Network and many more. Community organizations efforts resulted in large registrations for the event. Dr. Swati Kulkarni, Consul General of India in Atlanta in her Independence Day and Ganesh Navaratri messages where ever she attended informed the community about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to US and encouraged Indian community to attend Howdy Modi event to be held in Houston on September 22 and make it a national event not a Houston only summit. This resulted in the large registrations from Georgia.

This will be an extraordinary feat by the Indian-American community coming together to celebrate and strengthen the ties between the two nations. This mega event at the NRG Stadium in Houston will witness by 50,000 people and live telecast to millions of people to listen to Modi worldwide. In 2014 and 2017 Modi addressed a similar events in New York and Washington DC that attracted great enthusiastic attendance from Indian American community. Howdy Modi  is also a testimony to  the Modi charisma  motivating   Indians across USA to gather at one platform.
‘Indian American story’ is the theme of the cultural program to be presented in the presence of Modi. Over 30 performing groups with 400 performers drawn from Texas and other cities will be presenting various cultural programs.
