Music is an integral part of all our lives. Almost all of us have had an
experience where we've seen a live musical performance that takes us through a
journey of emotions and makes us come alive. The South Asian population is
fortunate to have ANANYA, our very own local musical group that has repeatedly
taken many of us through this musical journey. ANANYA has consistently provided
mind blowing musical entertainment, and all the proceeds from their show have
gone towards charitable efforts.
ANANYA came together through a melding of musical minds at the University of
Florida. During the initial years, the group members traveled to all parts of
Florida and performed. However as the group members graduated, the band went
silent until it was resurrected in Atlanta in 2002 with new artists based in
Atlanta. Since then, there has been no looking back, Ananya has performed
several times in the Atlanta community satisfying the community's thirst for
good music.

Musically
speaking, Ananya has truly covered the entire spectrum ranging from Indian
classical to Bhangra to Western Rock. When the organization Vibha approached
Ananya to play an outdoor concert at Georgia Tech for a mainly western crowd,
Ananya stepped up to the plate and came up with a lineup of Western Rock mixed
with Indian hits that was unparalleled by any South Asian music group in the
region. Ananya is a truly cross-cultural South Asian outfit that has performed
in a variety of Indian languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali,
Punjabi, Marathi and Malayalam.
Ananya's greatest asset is the high level of infectious enthusiasm among the
group members that inevitably seeps through to the listeners providing for an
unforgettable experience! Having attended ANANYA’s performances they are truly
marvelous!!! Many people in the audience came under ANANYA’s musical enchantment
and danced the evening away. Their careful song selections and seamlessly
crafted medleys left an everlasting impression on our minds.

Probably the most noteworthy thing about Ananya is that they have done it all
for the love of their fans and the society around them. All of Ananya's show
have been charity fundraisers where the artists have themselves undergone
financial costs to do the shows. Till date, Ananya members have raised several
thousand dollars towards charitable causes. Most recently being the a 3 hour
concert dedicated to Tsunami relief.
COMMENT from Ashok Ganapathy, the Master of Ceremonies
It was a rare honor for me and indeed a pleasure to be an emcee for this highly
talented and proficient group of performers. Their passion for musical
excellence is hard to emulate. The song selections and the lilting tunes kept
the audience rooted to their seats. Even the kids, who normally run around in
such places, stayed put, and absorbed the musical output! This group reached
deep down and presented songs encompassing about half-a century, which was
blissful for the young and the old alike! Their on-stage performance kept the
audience screaming for more, and not wanting the program to end, well past the
allocated time.
Ananya is an invaluable asset to the Atlanta community. They are a vital
component of our lives that provide music for our souls. Let us hope that they
continue to perform at many more occasions for years to come!
