SEVA launched to serve seniors

A new organization with an apt acronym SEVA - (Senior Enrichment Volunteer Association) – that truly reflects its character, aims and purposes has been launched with the noble intent of rendering a variety of much needed services to the Senior Citizens of Metro Atlanta. Its maiden program was held at The Palace Restaurant on Sunday, April, 4th with over 150 senior citizens participating.  Program
commenced with traditional lighting of lamp by Champaben Patel
and Ganesh Stuthi invocation by Ajit Dave - both of whom are
active senior members in the group. Mr. Pankaj Sampat, Founder,
expatiated on the mission as well as the future vision of the
fledgling organization. At present a host of seniors of the Asian subcontinent are in felt need of various services, such as transportation, catering, translation, housekeeping, physical therapy etc. SEVA will endeavor to identify those needs and find volunteers to help the seniors. In next five years senior population is estimated to increase by 15% and the demand for such voluntary services will also increase commensurately. During this program seniors were treated to oven-fresh traditional Indian snacks and a sumptuous vegetarian lunch that included a fountain of Pina colada flavored soft drink. They were further entertained with music provided by Mr. Sunny Thacker and his group.  SEVA is spearheaded by Mr. Pankaj Sampat and his executive committee comprising of Mrs. Shilaben Dhiru Pankhania and Mrs. Tannaben Patel and core senior volunteer committee members - Sumitraben & Jaikishanbhai Tailor, Sushilaben Parekh & Nanubhai Parekh, Urmilaben & Vinaybhai Doshi, Suhagben & Rajanibhai Parikh, and Bhanuben & Prafulchandra Sekhda The other objectives of SEVA are to provide assistance, companionship and create a network to help seniors interact with one another by organizing social events, leisure tours, pilgrimages, picnics, etc. SEVA's mission is to keep seniors mentally and emotionally healthy and provide them with a single window opportunity to fulfill their needs.
