Mind Math
Celebrates 4th Math Olympiad in New Jersey
New Brunswick, NJ - On Saturday June 4, ALOHA Mind Math, a
learning center with 80 franchisees nationwide, held its 4th
Math Olympiad.
Over 1000 children across 33 centers participated to test their
math prowess and mind math skills learnt during the program. The
day also marked the graduation ceremony of over 100 kids who
completed the training program from various ALOHA centers.
Held at the Rutgers University campus, the event featured live
demonstrations of young children solving complex math problems
on stage. Over 3000 strong audience watched in awe as kids
solved these problems in 5 seconds. A written test in 10 levels
with 4 categories was conducted and Runners Up, Winners and
Champions were announced later in the day. The top scorer of
each category was pronounced champions. In all, there were 4
champions –Aditi Attada - age 9, Prithvi Iyer - age 8, Prutha
Patel - age 8 and Summaya Vawda - age 14.
“I
am so excited to have seen the response and am overwhelmed by
the sheer turnout and enthusiasm of the kids,” said Mani
Manickavelu, President & CEO – ALOHA USA. “Plans are afoot to
expand across the US and franchise opportunities are being
sought by eager parents and local business people”, he added.
Talking about the program and how it has been beneficial to
their children, parents commented that kids were learning key
skills in solving complex math problems for their age, which
boosts their confidence. “My son is no longer apprehensive when
it comes to Math, he is beginning to enjoy the process and the
subject,” a parent from North Edison noted.
A mother from South Brunswick quipped, “I wish ALOHA was there
when I was growing up, it would have helped me overcome the fear
of Math. My daughter loves the fact that she is able to answer
math problems in class quicker than anyone else.”
ALOHA’s 4th Math Olympiad was covered by TV9 and a program of
the day’s events will be telecast across US on leading TV
channel Zee TV later this month.
