ALAMA USA launches ambitious learning enterprise

ALAMA USA founders, Deepa Sriram and Sridevi Kannan, announced their partnering with ALAMA International to launch ALAMA USA LLC., a learning center concept aimed at teaching ABACUS Logical Application Mental Arithmetic to the K – 8 students.
Training classes will take place outside school hours in neighborhood learning centers which the partners plan establishing in North America, as well as in other countries. They inaugurated the first Abacus Learning Center in Marietta, GA on July 17, 2010 in the august presence of Dr. John Crooks, Cobb County Board of Education – Post 6.

Interestingly, the team became aware of abacus math programs in 2009 and found the program beneficial for their own children. They together learned abacus math through training combined with mentorship from experts in the field from ALAMAINTERNATIONAL INDIA. They researched materials and teaching practices from around the world and reoriented the program and developed appropriate teaching methodology to best suit their requirements.

Ms. Sriram is a business leader with experience in e-commerce. She along with MS. Sridevi channeled her creativity, passion and business insight, creating a successful management team and the one stop league shop, IPLSHOP.com. Ms. Sriram holds a B.S. from the Western Kentucky University in Information Technology. She is also a Carnatic music teacher. She is a wife and mother of two children and enjoys living in Georgia. She loves spending time with family and fond of teaching, global travel, exploring new cultures, music and art.

Ms. Kannan is a successful entrepreneur, business leader and creator of innovative ideas and business processes. She holds a B.S in Computer Science. Ms. Kannan lives in Georgia with her husband and 2 children. She loves spending time with family and fond of teaching, global travel, exploring new cultures, health and beauty.

ALAMA USA Abacus offers abacus-based learning programs specially tailored for children aged 5 to 13. ALAMA is fully appreciative that a child’s success means a lot to the parents in highly competitive environs. It offers bridge courses using ABACUS CONCEPTS with special focus on LOGICAL THINKING for better comprehension of mathematics. The study is imaginatively punctuated with fun and play to make the entire learning process pleasurable. ALAMAUSA believes that at an impressionable age, kids are more receptive to learning new ideas and acquiring new skills.

In launching ALAMA USA, the team has initiated a global effort to promote mathematical skills by adroitly blending well-known time-tested practices with the use of ABACUS. The Abacus Based Program endows the child with the competitive edge and enhances his/her ability to observe, sharpen memory powers and develop speed and accuracy to effectively confront the challenges of growing up. Needless to say, the simple tool called 'ABACUS ' helps children to solve mathematical problems in a playful environment and rids the math phobia commonly found among them.

Not content merely working with numbers ALAMA also inculcates analytical thinking by solving word problems. Apart from teaching basic arithmetic like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division by moving beads of the ABACUS, ALAMA also helps the children solve problems rationally.
