The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy Series ends in a 2-2 Draw between India and England

By Mahadev Desai

Many cricket lovers prefer T-20 and ODI matches to long drawn five-day tests. But the recently held The Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 test matches between India and England disproved that and broke the most watched live and digital viewing records. The intensely fought five Tests series at different venues in England between June 20 and August 4, 2025, provided plenty of entertainment, excitement, and nail-biting moments. The edge-of-the-seat ending came in the 5th Test at the Oval when India won by just six runs!
The results of the Test matches were as below:

Why was this Test series so important for India? Because a month earlier India’s two outstanding players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had retired and Indian team had to travel to England to play the Test series. But the selectors appointed 25-year-old Shubman Gill as Captain.
The rest were a mix of a few senior players like Jasprit Bumrah; K. Rahul; K. Nair; Kuldeep Yadav; Mohammed Siraj; Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur and young players like Akash Deep; Anshul Kamboj; Dhruv Jurel; Nitish Kumar Reddy; Prasidh Krishna; Rishabh Pant; Sai Sudharsan. But all bonded well and played with grit, composure and maturity and rose to the occasion when circumstances demanded. Many batting and bowling records were broken. Rishabh Pant made history as the first wicketkeeper to score centuries in both innings in the first test. Gill became the highest run-scorer in a Test series for India.
Former India Captain Sunil Gavaskar called India’s six-run triumph in the final match at the Oval “The greatest of wins in Indian cricket history”

Team India has a promising future. It will evolve and get better. The journey continues!
