Once again the group 'Dhoop Chaoon' had, with its characteristic finesse, presented its yearly variety stage show. The group, it may be recalled, consists of working individuals who come together to display their passion for performing arts. The stage performance comprised of plays, dances and other recreational programs.


The Atlanta Desi community getting the opportunity to enjoy genuine Hindi-medium live entertainment in their very own city - is becoming scarce.



The Saturday, May 2nd 2009, performance by 'Dhoop Chaoon Hindi Natya Sangathan' (Dhoop Chaoon Hindi Theater Troupe) brought a scintillating cultural stage production on the lush and peaceful Emory University campus. At a time when Bollywood is doing nothing more than aping western culture and lifestyle, it was so refreshing to witness this awe-inspiring spectacle.



Aptly named 'Azab Dhang Gazab Rang,Kabhe Hanse Kabhe Gam' the revue encompassed a variety of musical and theatrical performances. The 60-member group performed 11 pieces that, through subtle humor and playful satire, gently reminded the soon nostalgic audience of Hindi's essentiality to their vibrant culture.



The participating members celebrated diverse geographic and cultural origins and came together as a single entity to produce the event. Dhoop Chaoon is the brainchild of writer-director Sandhya Bhagat who as an avid devotee of Hindi language and literature, has striven to unassailably bring Hindi to prominence through his productions over the years. Thanks are due for the support extended by Emory University and many other generous sponsors for the magnificent venue and the sumptuous dinner to over 275 Hindi-language enthusiasts.
