Dhoop Chaoon , A name not new to Atlantans, have been known to give outstanding performances in forms of skits, plays, dramas and dance-dramas at various community events such as IACA Festival of India, Diwali Celebration at Centennial Park, Star Talk Hindi Language Summer Camp ,etc to name a few. It has also made its mark among South Asian community for, conducting its own annual Family Entertainment based Variety Show. The Group has observed its own successful annual shows for past six years which were held at Emory University White Hall and at Berkmaar High School. Growing each year, Dhoop Chaon is committed to bringing quality family variety shows for the South Asian Community.

In past, this group has given many amateur and veteran stage artists a platform to showcase their art of acting, dancing, and emceeing. The group has been known in the community to bring very unique theatrical performances including emotional dramas, comedy plays, dance dramas, etc that have not only entertained the audience by presenting to them light comedy/emotion but have also helped them get connected to their roots and culture. Dhoop Chaon is always dedicated to prepare its items keeping close to our rich heritage, culture and language.

This time Mrs Sandhya Bhagat, gave a new direction to her theatre group and invited kids all ages to come learn Hindi/Urdu and perform under the banner of Dhoop Chaoon – NATKHAT RANGEELEY. The preparations for the show began about four months ago, when she sat head down day and night writing script for the short plays and coming up with program agenda. For this project she collaborated with many community artist/teachers. Mr. Rahim Hussain for teaching kids how to dance, Mr. Lakshmi Kant Pandya for helping kids for mime/acting, Mr. Apurva Shrivastava for teaching kids how to sing.

Natkhat Rangeeley was held at Fusion event hall on Oct 14th 2012. The program began with the kids coming in small groups, greeting the audience and giving their introduction in a very unique style reciting a poems, dohas, tongue twisters, street games, riddles or muhavra in Hindi. All the natkhat rangeeley then sang popular motivational song “Hum Honge Kaamyaab”. Renu Thapiyal and Rahim Hussain were outstanding in their role of co-host and kept the audience on continuous laughter roll. Audience enjoyed watching short plays “Beech Ki Lakeer”(based on the conflict between parents and teenagers) and “Aalsiyon ka Shahar”. Both the plays were not only humorous and hilarious but also conveyed a strong moral message to the audience. Everybody then enjoyed kids and John Chacha (Apurva Shrivastava) as they sang popular bollywood songs with twisted words. They narrated the old folk tale lomri aur kauaa. Last but not the least; the stage was set on fire as all participants danced to the beats of “Om Shanti Om” from Bollywood movie Deewangi which was later joined by parent volunteers. It goes without saying that each and every item was very well applauded by the audience as they found these kids acting amazingly cute and confident on stage.

Natkhat Rangeeley observed more than 20 kids. The proud artists of Natkhat Rangeeley are Anup Chandora,Angad Joshi, Sonal Sharma,Manasvi Rammna Reddy, Ishani Saha. Hana Dalwai, Manika Bhatia, Saurabh Sharma, Manav Bhatia , Ananya Jain,Eshani Chawalah ,Khushi Joshi, Iti jain, Eshita Jain, Manya Sharma, Pramiti Vora,Ahmad Mohhmad ,Rhea Sethi Sehaj Singh Rekhe and Pream Kurrupani.

The kids in this unique presentation ranged in ages from ages 6 to 18 and were of different origin. In their words, their experience at Natkhat Rangshala was fun, enjoyable, interesting and educating. Kids learned many new words, sentences, numbers etc of Hindi/Urdu language. The kids made friendships that they can now continue to keep by joining Natkhat workshops as it is opening up an acting school for kids.
