India American Cultural Association ( IACA ) oldest organization of the Indian community in Southeast kicked off the holiday season by celebrating Christmas at the center located at 1281 Cooper Lake Rd, Smyrna, GA, 30082 on 1st Dec 2012. True to its name IACA stands for the beautiful culture of India, its people and the diversity it presents.



IACA want to thank AMMA and the First Indian Baptist Church of Atlanta for having the heart and sensitivity to mount such a celebration. The Holiday Season (whether one celebrates Christmas or Diwali or any other holiday) is one of joy, and is the time to celebrate life and family, and to give to charity and to the community. It is the season of hope and rebirth, the return of light, and of the fellowship of humankind.



Event was attended by over 400 people and various community leaders such as Punjabi Society and Sasga gurdwara. And the  large and enthusiastic crowds really seemed to appreciate the weather and the festivities.

The event started with showing the birth of Jesus, followed by a play from BhagwadGita and various famous Bollywood numbers. Over 50 kids from various backgrounds participated in the event. A beautiful medley of Bollywood mix was presented. The event ended with a touching display and play of Indian National Anthem played by the likes of Kavitha KrishnaMurti, BhimSen Joshi, Jagjit Singh et.el. The crowd stood in festive patriotic reverence.



The celebration could not have been produced without the financial support of Dr. Mathew Kandithil, Dr. Paddy Sharma and Mr. Kaushal Tripathi. Special thanks must go to the hard-working volunteers who put the entire celebration together, especially including Shaji Fernendez, Regi Cherian, Manoj koottappilly, Pastor Younis Farhat and Rina Gupta. Emcee Nivedita Garabadu engaged the crowd for three hours.

As the days grow dark and cold, we illuminate and warm our community and our lives with events like this.
