The Sewa Women’s Cricket Tournament at Rock Mill Park

A Thrilling Women’s Cricket Tournament: Community, Competition, and Charity On September 21, Rock Mill Park was alive with excitement as over 100 spectators gathered to witness a spectacular Sewa International Women’s Cricket Tournament, organized by Neetu Chauhan and Vijay Vaghela, supported by Vijay G, Manoj Sharma, Srikanth Tirumala, Praveen Lambade, Sai and Jitendra Singh, with proceeds benefiting the Sewa ASPIRE Program, which focuses on K-8 education in underserved communities. The event not only showcased exceptional cricket talent but also celebrated the power of community and family support.

Five incredible teams took the field: Firebirds, Dazz Sports Desi Smashers, Fullcity Wonder Women, Supernovas, and BMP Strikers. Despite the intense 80-85°F heat, the competition was fierce but friendly, with every player giving their all. The match went on for six thrilling hours, with cheers from the crowd echoing after every run, boundary, and wicket.

The tournament was officially inaugurated by Vikas Arora, Southeast Regional Director of Sewa, whose presence added a special touch to the occasion.

The event was a true family affair. Children ran around with excitement, offering snacks and water to the players during breaks, and the sense of camaraderie among the families added to the warmth of the day.

In the exciting finals, Firebirds emerged victorious, prevailing over the Dazz Sports Desi Smashers, who were proud runners-up. While the Firebirds celebrated their win, the real triumph was the incredible sense of empowerment and unity that filled the air.
The event’s success went beyond the sport, with all proceeds benefiting the Sewa ASPIRE Program, making a positive impact on the community. Though there was a winner on the field, every participant and spectator left feeling like a champion, united by the spirit of giving and sportsmanship.
This unforgettable day of cricket, family, and charity will be remembered as a shining example of the strength of women, the power of community, and the joy of coming together for a great cause.
